2014 Disaster Report Card

Save the Children has released the 2014 Disaster Report Card and it reveals parents and states are leaving kids at risk. Take a look at the statistics and check on your state’s preparedness from the web site, www.savethechildren.org. More than 50% of U.S. families have been affected by some type of disaster. 25% have experienced a hurricane, 20% a tornado, 14% an earthquake, 9% a building fire and 6% a school shooting. Is there an emergency plan in place and how prepared do your parents feel about protecting their child/ren from disaster? On the Save the Children web site you will find several downloadable and free disaster and emergency resources for parents. Some of the resources include an emergency contact form, tips for protecting children in emergencies, a disaster supply checklist, and a child ID card. Go to the link and be one step closer to being ready and prepared.
